On the 5th June 2010 Kelvin Leslie Thomson sadly past away. Hudson Carpentry was asked to build a garden memorial bench that will be donated by his daughter and widow a year later to the Tennis Club he loved so much.

He was largely a family man. He was a parent to one and made time every week to visit his daughter and 4 grandchildren. He was also there for the family whenever needed.

Kelvin lived an active life and played a big part in the running of the Park Tennis Club Nottingham. Not only did he play weekly he helped organise the events, maintain the site and even did the book keeping while holding down a full time job.

Kelvin worked for a firm that supplied the catering industry with kitchen appliances and dining accessories. Before being hired in his current job, he ran his own family business selling and installing kitchen appliance and accessories for over 10 years.

The passing overKelvin died doing what he loved, playing Tennis. Kelvin was a great sportsman. He wasn't concerned whether he won or lost, enjoying the game was more of a priority. Playing whatever the cost he rarely missed a match. The post mortum revealed he suffered from a heart condition that he wasn't aware of. While engaged in a Tennis match on the morning of the 5th June 2010 he started to feel ill. Sadly shorty after continuing his match he collapsed and passed away before the ambulance could reach him. No one knew at the time his demise was a heart attack.

Kelvin was awarded the LTA Nottinghamshire Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010, unfortunately he had passed away before he knew.

The plackHudson Carpentry Furniture of Hucknall Nottingham are proud to be involved in helping the memory of a great guy that is Kelvin Leslie Thomson live on. The bench was presented to the Park Tennis Club on the 5th June 2011, exactly a year on. During the day the Tennis club was also presented with trophies. One a large wooden shield with smaller blank metal shields that will over the years be engraved with the childrens names that win the junior achiever of the year award. The smaller ones will be presented to the Junior Achiever of the year for them to keep.

Kelvins funeral held at the Bramcote Crematorium had a great turn out. Kelvin was cremated and his ashes scattered within the grounds of the Park Tennis Club where his memory will live on. His work within the club was greatly appreciated, some would say the Tennis club was his life.
